Why does pricing consulting work feel so hard?

For most of your career, someone else set your pay. You spent years leading programs, raising money, managing teams, or building systems, and the salary came with the job.

Now you're the business. You have to package everything you know into services and decide what it's worth, and nobody taught you how. So you start with hourly because it feels familiar, compare your rate to your old salary, and discount before anyone asks.

Then you're busy with client work, and the money still doesn't cover what it needs to: your bills, your taxes, your health insurance, and time off. Resentment creeps in, and consulting starts to feel like the job you left. If it goes on long enough, you end up taking a job or closing your business, and the nonprofits you serve lose you too. The Bootcamp helps you set rates that keep your business going.

What's inside the Bootcamp

Module 1: Face Your Numbers

See what you're actually earning. Audit your services, clients, pricing models, and rates to find what's paying off and where you're leaving money on the table.

Module 2: Discover Your True Price

Find your rate. Compare hourly, project, and retainer pricing, and see why pricing for results beats pricing for time. Then plug your income goal, costs, and billable hours into the pricing calculator to get your rate for all three.

Module 3: Own Your New Rate

Say it with confidence. Get scripts for calls and emails, including what to say when a client pushes back on budget. Practice your rate out loud until it feels normal, then see how many clients you need at that rate to hit your income goal.

  • Five short video lessons you can finish in about an hour
  • Companion workbook with a pricing audit, reflection prompts, and a rate summary

Is the Bootcamp right for you?

It's for you if you:

  • Have clients but suspect your rates are too low
  • Set your rate by guessing, copying someone else, or carrying over your old hourly pay
  • Discount or overdeliver before anyone asks you to
  • Freeze up when a prospective client asks what you charge
  • Are about to start consulting and want your prices set before your first proposal

Who teaches the Bootcamp?

Hi, I'm Cat. When I first started consulting, I based my rate on what I'd made as an employee. I gave discounts before anyone asked for them, and I felt bad charging nonprofits more, even when the work was strategic and tied directly to their goals. I even tried sliding-scale pricing with the best intentions, and I lost money doing it. I had plenty of work, but the money didn't feel worth it.

Since then, I've built a business that's generated nearly $1 million in revenue across consulting, coaching, and business education, and 100+ nonprofit professionals have joined my Mentorship program to build theirs. I created the Pricing Audit Bootcamp to help you understand your rate, stop choosing prices from guilt or fear, and charge enough to stay in this work for the long haul.

Questions about the Bootcamp

Is this for me if I already have clients, or if I'm just starting?

Yes, either way. If you have clients, you'll audit what you're charging each of them and see whether it's fair or whether it's time for an increase. If you're just starting, you'll set your first rates before you send a proposal, so you don't start out undercharging.

I've been consulting for years. Is this too basic for me?

No. A pricing audit is never too basic. Your costs, your lifestyle, and your clients change over time, and rates that made sense a few years ago may not anymore. Checking your numbers regularly is how you catch that before it costs you.

Will it tell me exactly what to charge?

Yes. Enter your income goal, your business costs, and the hours you want to work, and the pricing calculator gives you your hourly, project, and retainer rates. It's based on your goals, so the number is yours.

What if nonprofits can't afford my new rate?

Some won't, and that's okay. Plenty of nonprofits can't afford consultants at all, or have budget issues that have nothing to do with you. It isn't on you to fix that by charging less. For organizations with tighter budgets, you can offer a smaller project or a phased approach, and Module 3 gives you a script for that conversation. What hurts your business is bending your rates until the work costs you. A few clients who can pay you well are better than a lot of clients who can't.

I'm already stretched thin. How long does it take?

About an hour, including the workbook and calculator. It's short on purpose, because you're busy. You also get lifetime access, so you can run your numbers again each year and see if it's time to raise your rates.

Do you offer refunds?

No. You get the full course, workbook, calculator, and scripts as soon as you check out, so all sales are final. If you have questions before you buy, email support@relatablenonprofit.com.
