Mentorship Member Spotlight: Bryan White of BW Insights
We had the pleasure of interviewing Bryan White for our Mentorship Member Spotlight. Bill is the co-founder of BW Insights.
Tell us a little about yourself and your consulting business.
Bryan: I’m Bryan White, a nonprofit CFO and consultant who loves helping mission-driven leaders get clarity around their numbers. Through my firm, BW Insights, I partner with nonprofits to strengthen financial systems, understand their data, and build realistic, sustainable plans. What makes my work unique is that I’ve lived the challenges my clients face, so I translate complex finance into simple, actionable steps that empower teams and boards.
What inspired you to start your consulting journey?
Bryan: I started consulting because I realized that my favorite part of being a CFO wasn't the spreadsheets, it was helping leaders feel less alone in their decisions. Nonprofit leadership can be isolating. I wanted to create a service that gives leaders clarity, confidence, and a trusted partner they can depend on. That's what inspired BW Insights.
What types of nonprofits do you love working with?
Bryan: I love working with nonprofits that are deeply mission-focused and ready to grow. Those that care about building sustainable systems, stewarding their resources wisely, and expanding their impact in a healthy, intentional way.
What has been your biggest win since joining the Relatable Nonprofit Mentorship program?
Bryan: I’m new here, and really to consulting in general. However, I’ve signed 2 retainer clients in just under 3 months of actively launching BW Insights!
How had the Relatable Nonprofit Mentorship program supported your growth?
Bryan: I’m confident that Relatable Nonprofit will support my growth by giving me a structured space to refine my consulting model, strengthen my messaging, and learn from leaders who’ve built successful practices in the nonprofit sector. Having guidance, feedback, and accountability will help me scale BW Insights with clearer systems and a more confident voice.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting out as a nonprofit consultant?
Bryan: Lead with relationship. Nonprofit consulting isn’t just strategy. When leaders feel safe, understood, and supported, they’ll actually use your expertise. The best consultants aren’t always the smartest in the room; they’re the most trustworthy.
