We are super excited to roll out something special – a project that's not just close to our hearts but is also a ton of fun! Let us introduce you to our brand-new Instagram account Relatable Nonprofit, a space where humor meets the daily grind of nonprofit work.

Here’s the backstory: last summer, Julia Devine and Catalina Parker hit upon the idea of starting an Instagram page. After years of navigating the nonprofit world as employees, funders, and consultants, we knew firsthand the unique blend of fulfillment and frustration that comes with the territory. We set out with grand ambitions to make a positive impact, but reality hit hard with its relentless demands, leaving our personal lives in its wake. In a moment of desperation (and a bit of genius), we turned our venting sessions into an Instagram feed filled with inside jokes and memes. And guess what? It struck a chord. Thousands of nonprofit people like us started following, sharing, and saying, “This is my life!” It was clear we had stumbled onto something magical.

Despite the incredible people we’ve met, we can't ignore the dark cloud hanging over us: burnout. It’s more than just a buzzword here. The Social Impact Staff Retention 2024 report dropped some jaw-dropping stats – 74% of nonprofit staff are eyeing the exit door, and 65% are questioning whether nonprofit work is their forever path.

That’s a crisis, folks. And it's the reason Relatable Nonprofit is more than memes and funny quotes. We’re here to spotlight the reality of working in this sector and to advocate for the change we desperately need. We’re talking self-care that goes beyond bubble baths, actual work-life balance, and fair pay that reflects the heart and soul we pour into our missions.
