Mentorship Member Spotlight: Katie Booth, Founder of Kind Capacity.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Katie Booth for our Mentorship Member Spotlight. She is the founder of Kind Capacity.

Tell us a little about yourself and your consulting business! What inspired you to start your consulting journey?

Katie: I’m Katie Booth, founder of Kind Capacity, where I help nonprofits and mission-driven leaders strengthen their strategies, systems, and storytelling. My work is rooted in care, consent, and capacity because I believe we can do meaningful work without burning people out. What makes my approach unique is blending real-world nonprofit experience with fresh frameworks that put people first while reimagining what’s possible for organizations.

I was inspired to start my consulting journey because I saw too many people in nonprofits giving their all while working in systems that left them exhausted. I knew there had to be a better way. Kind Capacity grew out of that belief that we can build organizations where care and sustainability are just as important as impact.

What types of nonprofits do you love working with?

Katie: I love working with nonprofits that are willing to think differently organizations that care deeply about their mission and their people. Whether they’re small, growing, or in transition, I’m drawn to leaders who value care, ethics, and sustainability just as much as outcomes. Those are the partnerships where real change can take root.

What has been your biggest win since joining the Relatable Nonprofit Mentorship program?

Katie: My biggest win since joining Relatable Nonprofit has been finding a community of people who truly “get it.” The support and connection have helped me step fully into launching Kind Capacity with clarity and confidence. Having a space where I don’t feel alone in this work has been invaluable and it’s reminded me that community is part of capacity too.

How has the Relatable Nonprofit Mentorship program supported your growth?

Katie: Relatable Nonprofit has supported my growth by giving me a space to be real, ask questions, and learn alongside others who are on the same path. It’s pushed me to show up more confidently, celebrate my own wins, and remember that I don’t have to build this work alone.

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting out as a nonprofit consultant?

Katie: Start with your values and let them guide everything you build. It’s easy to get caught up in what you think you “should” do, but the real foundation of a sustainable consulting business is knowing who you are, what you stand for, and the kind of work you won’t compromise on.
