Oct 29, 2024
It was such an honor to interview Patricia Glass for our Mentorship Member Spotlight. Patricia founded and owns Flourish, a support hub for nonprofits, entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Tell us about your business! What inspired you to become a nonprofit consultant, and what’s the focus of your work?
Patricia: Flourish started from a deep-rooted desire to empower nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and small businesses to maximize their impact. Growing up in a cycle of poverty, I witnessed firsthand the powerful role nonprofits play in community support and transformation. This inspired me to leverage my experience in nonprofit management to help organizations build strong foundations, strategize growth, and achieve sustainable success.
What’s a recent project you’re proud of? How did you help the nonprofit achieve its goals?
Patricia: I'm really proud to have recently organized a nonprofit summit. It was a massive undertaking that brought together community leaders and nonprofit enthusiasts to share insights and strategies. This summit provided a platform for learning and networking and sparked new collaborations. It's incredible to see the ripple effect of such gatherings, helping organizations refine their approaches and amplify their impact
What advice would you give to new consultants just starting out?
Patricia: Dive deeply into understanding the nonprofit sector's specific needs and challenges. Building strong relationships is key. Listen actively to your clients and tailor your advice to help them fulfill their unique missions. Also, continually develop your skills and stay updated on industry trends. Consulting is as much about continuous learning as it is about advising.
How has being part of the Relatable Nonprofit Mentorship Community helped you grow your business?
Patricia: Joining the Relatable Nonprofit Mentorship Community has been transformative for Flourish. The community has provided a great network of like-minded professionals and valuable insights and resources that have refined my approach to consulting. It’s a fantastic space for collaboration and growth, directly translating into better service for my clients.
What’s next for you? Any exciting projects or goals you’re working toward?
Patricia: Looking ahead, Flourish is excited to launch a series of workshops specifically tailored for small nonprofits to navigate the complexities of starting and maintaining a nonprofit. Additionally, we’re opening our co-working and conference facilities to provide even more versatile spaces for community collaboration and professional development. I aim to continue fostering an environment where nonprofits can thrive and amplify their impact.
