Patricia Glass, CNP, is the founder and executive director of Flourish, a hub in Tyler, Texas, that equips nonprofit leaders with resources, relationships, and support. Flourish offers consulting, coworking and meeting space, training and peer cohorts, and Standards for Excellence education and accreditation support.
What led you into this work?
Flourish started from a deep-rooted desire to help nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and small businesses maximize their impact. Growing up in a cycle of poverty, I witnessed firsthand the powerful role nonprofits play in community support and transformation. This inspired me to use my experience in nonprofit management to help organizations build strong foundations, strategize growth, and achieve sustainable success.
What's a project you're proud of?
I'm really proud to have organized a nonprofit summit. It was a massive undertaking that brought together community leaders and nonprofit enthusiasts to share insights and strategies. The summit provided a platform for learning and networking and sparked new collaborations. It's incredible to see the ripple effect of gatherings like this, helping organizations refine their approaches and amplify their impact.
What advice would you give someone earlier in their journey?
Dive deeply into understanding the nonprofit sector's specific needs and challenges. Building strong relationships is key. Listen actively to your clients and tailor your advice to help them fulfill their unique missions. Also, continually develop your skills and stay updated on industry trends. Consulting is as much about continuous learning as it is about advising.
